XRF testing
X-ray fluorescence (XRF) allows trained inspectors to evaluate painted surfaces without removing a physical paint chip from every component. VEC uses XRF data together with inspection observations and project scope to document lead-related findings.

Older painted structures, renovation projects, restoration losses and projects involving deteriorated or disturbed coatings are common reasons for a lead inspection.
What is a lead dust-wipe clearance?
Dust-wipe clearance sampling is used after certain lead-related work to evaluate whether settled lead dust levels meet the applicable clearance criteria for the project.
Does XRF damage the painted surface?
XRF is a nondestructive screening and measurement technology and generally does not require removal of a paint chip for each reading.
